My good friend Councillor Kushner and I have been fighting for years to have sidewalks installed down Louth St. from TRW across the train tracks to Ridley Road. This has been very difficult because multiple agencies have had to approve our request due to the tracks. Many of our West End residents, especially those with mobility challenges, have been asking for these sidewalks for years and Councillor Kushner and I finally got this passed through Council a month or so ago. I was very pleased to see that work has started on these sidewalks and they should be finished soon which is great news for West St. Catharines as a we now have a continuous linkage to the retail node at Fourth Avenue.
A great example of two Ward Councillors working together!

It’s nice to finally see a sidewalk happening here. As a newer resident of West St. Catharines, I’ve been driving down that road on a regular basis for a year now… and always see the difficulty people have traversing the area on foot (especially mothers with strollers and, as you said, those with mobility challenges). Excellent stuff.
